If no adjustment is needed after the neck is setup, I go ahead and turn the bolt just enough to tighten it so it won't rattle but not enough to adjust the neck in either direction.

I always put a little dab of "tub & tile" calk in the slot, usually near both ends and the middle. Just a small dab in the bottom of the slot then press the rod down. I've never had a problem with rattles and it dooesn't interfere with adjustments either.

I had the same problem with a bass guitar, but just snugging the trussrod took care of it. I use Shoo Goo now.
Just a tiny bit does the trick.

What does "bump" mean?? I see some post this term from time to time

Rich, "bump" just moves the thread to the top of the stack or list by creating a recent thread entry. It "bumps" the discussion back up to call attention or remind folks that more commentary or discussion is desired.
